Art in her DNA

I was born into an environment where everyone was involved in some way with the arts and crafts. In my family, you were either an artist or a craftsman. My cousins are the sculptors Ridha Ben Arab in France and Mohamed Marwen in Spain. Many family members followed the same path. I remember a time when I was teaching at the art school and had six nephews and nieces attending at the same time. In other words, art has always flowed through our veins from father to son.

First workshop

On her return to Tunisia, she built her own kiln, reintroducing glassblowing, which had been abandoned since the 14th century. In parallel with her own production, she carried out theoretical and practical research that led her to question the origins of glass and, not without challenging a few preconceived ideas, to reproduce Punic glassmaking techniques in her workshop.

GAMMARTH WORKSHOP

Now based on the seafront in Gammarth, near Carthage, she runs a glass creation and production workshop, with several teams of glassblowers, coupled with a vast showroom-sales area, a Centre de Réhabilitation des Métiers d'art (R.M.A.) and a Cultural Space.

Her objects, which sometimes combine iron, silver, brass or wood with glass, are exported all over the world; some are exhibited in several museums. Sadika also takes part in numerous international contemporary art exhibitions, creating bas-reliefs in pâte de verre, sculptures, jewelry and many other precious objects.
